A year of decisions – a year to shape the future

2025 was one of the most significant years in the history of the CarboTech Group. It was a year in which we had to make difficult but necessary decisions. The closure of our production facility in Essen at the end of the year was not just an economic move – it was a strategic turning point.
This decision was not an easy one for us. The multitude of regulatory changes, the structural transformation of the activated carbon market, and the economic realities of fluidized bed technology made it clear to us: It was the right time for a new beginning.

At the same time, we laid the foundation for a stable and sustainable future this year:

• We aligned our organization with a strong, efficient trading and service model.
• We have globalized and secured our supply chains.
• We have strengthened key customer relationships and opened up new markets.
• We have further expanded our expertise in the area of CMS – the technological backbone of our company.

CarboTech thus remains a reliable partner for quality, security of supply, and technical expertise – even without its own production facility in Essen. But I would like to emphasize one thing here:  The decision to shut down is not a farewell to production in Europe. Because:

• We believe in the European market.
• We believe in innovation and
• We are already working on reestablishing CarboTech as a technical producer of activated carbon in Europe – more efficient, more sustainable, and more technologically advanced than before.
• When we return, it will be with a technology of the future, not the past.

As the year draws to a close, I would like to thank all our customers, suppliers, and partners for their trust, open cooperation, and strong partnership in a year full of change.
2026 will be a year of consolidation, focus, and further development. We are pursuing this path with a clear strategy – and with the confidence that we will emerge from this transformation stronger than we were when we entered it.
