Christmas gift to KinderPalliativNetzwerk
Employees at CarboTech Group donate to Essen-based palliative care organisation
Staff at Essen-based activated carbon manufacturer CarboTech Group have collected donations at their Christmas party for local child palliative care organisation ‘KinderPalliativNetzwerk Essen’ where the money will benefit sick children and their families. CarboTech’s Managing Director, Daniel Böke, presented a 1,000-euro cheque to charitable non-profit organisation ‘Wundertüte e.V.’ at his company’s offices on 9 December.
Great generosity in the workforce
A festive mood, delicious food and a desire to do good – that was what this year’s Christmas party at Essen-based CarboTech Group was all about (in compliance with all COVID precautions, of course). A fundraising campaign among staff, where everyone was able to buy raffle tickets for one euro each, raised a total of nearly 700 euros in donations. “We are of course delighted at this great commitment shown by our employees,” said CarboTech Managing Director Daniel Böke. “As a management team, we therefore decided to round up the donation to 1,000 euros.”
The choice of recipient did not take long: ‘KinderPalliativNetzwerk Essen’ which supports families whose children, teenagers and young adults are living with life-threatening medical conditions. The aim of this visiting outpatient service is to improve the quality of life for ill children and their relatives. “Our home town of Essen is very close to our hearts, so we knew right away that we wanted the money to go to a local organisation,” explained Daniel Böke.
Donation presented at CarboTech premises
On the morning of 9 December, Daniel Böke handed over the donation cheque in the office building on CarboTech’s site to Horst Treffehn, Presiding Chairman of ‘Wundertüte e.V.’ who expressed his delight at this support during the lead-up to Christmas: “We’re really happy that the people at CarboTech are supporting us with their donation. Every euro helps assist and support the affected families in their daily lives.” He said the palliative care organisation would be using the money to help provide case-specific and acute-needs assistance to needy families with seriously and chronically ill children. “Low-income families, in particular, cannot afford what are sometimes expensive treatment options. Here, too, the organisation uses the donations it receives to help those affected,” he continued.
“We’re delighted to be able to make a small contribution to the great work KinderPalliativNetzwerk does,” said Daniel Böke, presenting the cheque. “Children and their families need a lot of help especially in such difficult situations. We’re very sure the money is going to the right place here.” Böke also reported that the CarboTech Group is planning further fundraising campaigns to help even more aid organisations in its home city of Essen.
Azelis appointed as the exclusive distributor of CarboTech's portfolio in 13 European countries
The Essen-based CarboTech Group (CarboTech) is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-quality powdered, granulated and extruded activated carbons for a wide variety of applications. As part of the company’s ambitious growth plan, CarboTech is set to expand its current market presence even further and has chosen to do so, with immediate effect, in entering into a partnership with a world-leading specialty chemicals distributor for the following thirteen European countries: Azelis has been appointed as the exclusive distributor of CarboTech’s entire product portfolio in the UK, Ireland, the Nordics, Turkey, Central Europe, Russia, Poland, Spain, and Portugal. Azelis is a leading distributor of specialty chemicals and food ingredients present in over 50 countries across the globe with around 2,200 employees.
Whether for air, gas, hydrogen, water or wastewater purification, treatment of liquids, or carbon molecular sieves – CarboTech’s activated carbon products are known and appreciated worldwide. It is not without reason that the Essen-based company in the heart of the German Ruhr conurbation is one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality powdered, granulated and extruded activated carbons.
To attract even more B2B customers in Europe to what the company has to offer, CarboTech has now entered into an exclusive partnership across thirteen European countries. With immediate effect, Azelis, a global innovation service provider, will be the exclusive distributor of CarboTech’s entire activated carbon portfolio in the UK, Ireland, the Nordics, Turkey, Central Europe, Russia, Poland, Spain, and Portugal.
This move will see CarboTech benefiting from Azelis’ vast experience and network, as Azelis has successfully represented leading manufacturers around the world for many years and is known for bringing products of the highest quality to the market. The integrated supply chain ensures sophisticated, reliable logistical support. Another big plus is that the Azelis teams have the flexibility and market knowledge to respond to each customer on an individual basis. This ability will support CarboTech’s ambition to also approach B2B customers pro-actively in the food, energy, chemicals industry, and other sectors. Through its extensive network of more than 60 application laboratories across the world, Azelis can also support CarboTech with custom formulations, product testing, and regulatory compliance. Their expert teams moreover anticipate market trends and work proactively to offer innovative solutions to new needs.
“We are thrilled that CarboTech has entrusted us with this mandate. This product line is a great extension of our current performance chemicals product portfolio and we are very excited to offer it to many of our EMEA customers,” said Marnik Tack, Market Segment Director for Performance Chemicals EMEA at Azelis upon the announcement of the two companies’ partnership. And Cansu Dilmen, Head of International Sales at CarboTech, added, “We are convinced that Azelis is the right partner for the exclusive distribution of our high-quality products in United Kingdom, Ireland, Nordics, Turkey, Central Europe, Russia, Poland, Spain, and Portugal. The partnership with them is one of our important building blocks in our strategy to establish and expand our presence in the countries mentioned. To this end, we will benefit from Azelis’ expanding market presence, their extensive market knowledge, and their centralized approach. As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of activated carbon, we are looking forward to working and growing together with Azelis,” Dilmen concluded.
Looking for a professional future? CarboTech offers apprenticeships!
In Germany, the start of professional life begins at the age of 19 on average – usually when schooling is completed. But one can also start an apprenticeship sooner or later. Either way: CarboTech is always a good address for a promising career in a future-oriented industry.
Four experienced trainers with different backgrounds and professions ensure that the daily work is practice-oriented and goes far beyond the well-known cliché of ” making coffee and coyping”. “In 2020, we were able to welcome an apprentice to our team who works as an electronics technician for industrial engineering. We are also already looking for metalworkers, electricians, machine and plant operators, industrial mechanics and industrial clerks for the upcoming year” says CarboTech Managing Director Daniel Böke.
Those who decide to start their career at CarboTech will benefit from a practice-oriented training, a say in the equipment, a training workshop that he or she can help to build up and a close-knit team. “It is particularly important to us that our ‘apprentices’ learn what is important in everyday working life through training, project work, exercises and the exchange with our experienced trainers. And at the same time, they should also take on responsibility – for example, in independent activities in the context of maintenance, troubleshooting or new construction or conversion of systems,” Daniel Böke explains.
Anyone who now has the urge to apply for the upcoming year at CarboTech: Proactive applications are possible at any time by e-mail to email@example.com.

On the way to a fuel-free future: CarboTech sets up first e-fueling station
The change in individual mobility and the increased use of hybrid and e-vehicles means that in December 2020 an e-fueling station will be set up for the first time on the CarboTech premises at Elisenstraße in Essen. This free charging service will be available exclusively for customer and company vehicles.
“As long as you are visiting us – and provided the pillar is available – customers and employees can fuel their vehicles free of charge. This way, nothing stands in the way of an emission-free ride home or to your next business meeting”, Stefan Zanders, Head of Finance and Administration at CarboTech explains.
The e-fueling station will soon be located at the righthand side in front of the company building in the larger of the two parking lots. It will also be shown separately on the new signage of the entire site.
By the way: Due to organizational and legal requirements, it is unfortunately not possible for other third parties, e.g. other residents, to use the station.
