DIN EN ISO 9001 is a widely used and internationally recognised standard that defines the requirements for a quality management system. In view of this, it is a matter of course for CarboTech to maintain certification and to continuously improve the system. Among other things, it demonstrates transparent and customer-oriented processes, as well as the best values in terms of reliability, product quality and on-time delivery.

The international standard DIN EN ISO 14001 specifies the requirements for an environmental management system, enabling organisations to systematically and continuously improve their environmental performance.
CarboTech has already enshrined environmental protection in its corporate policy in 2021 and, following implementation, has had its environmental management successfully certified.

In 2024, CarboTech has taken comprehensive measures to improve health and safety at work beyond the legal requirements and thus meet the requirements of DIN EN ISO 45001. During the initial certification, conformity with the standard was confirmed.

The standard guides organisations in the systematic recording and assessment of health risks and the derivation of effective measures to protect all employees.

On our own initiative, we have voluntarily certified ourselves in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 – the international standard for energy management systems.

This means that our customers, employees and stakeholders can rely on us to systematically manage our energy efficiency, take responsibility for the environment and resources, and reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the process.

• ISO 50001 supports us in evaluating and prioritising the introduction of new energy-efficient technologies and in improving energy efficiency, energy use and consumption.
• It promotes best practices and behaviours in energy management, provides a framework for promoting energy efficiency throughout the supply chain and facilitates improvements in energy management for greenhouse gas emission reduction projects.

Responsible action, integrity and compliance with the applicable laws are the basis for a trusting relationship between CarboTech and business partners.

For this reason, CarboTech launched a compliance management system in 2022 and implemented it in all areas of the company the following year.

This means that all employees can face the daily challenges in the areas of occupational safety, environmental protection and energy in their work with legal certainty and avoid violating laws, company guidelines or corruption.
The effectiveness of this is now officially confirmed by the certification as a Certified Sustainable Company (CSC).

The ecovadis award is based on a holistic rating in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Among other things, aspects such as the reduction of environmental impacts, compliance with labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement are used for the assessment.

CarboTech activated carbons are used as filter media in various places in the food and beverage industry, among others. It therefore goes without saying that CarboTech, as part of a halal-compliant supply chain, also has to provide appropriate certification.

To enable CarboTech activated carbons to be used as filter media in the kosher supply chains of the food and beverage industry, CarboTech has obtained the relevant certification in this area.

In times of increasing cyber threats, CarboTech benefits from the professional IT business unit of the ICI Group, which maintains an information security management system in accordance with ISO 27001. As an internal service provider, ICIG Business Services (ICIG BS) defines high standards in the areas of security infrastructure, IT security and compliance and also implements these at CarboTech.

As we not only offer our customers activated carbon, but also comprehensive services such as the analysis of activated carbon in our in-house laboratory, corresponding quantities of used cuvettes and reagents are also produced.

We naturally want to cover this material consumption in the most resource-efficient way possible. For this reason, more than 75% of the cuvettes and reagents are recycled in the company’s environmental center via the Hach Lange GmbH take-back system.

The CarboTech range includes not only activated carbons but also a comprehensive range of services, such as the analysis of activated carbon in the company’s own laboratory. More than 75% of the used cuvettes and reagents from the Hach Lange GmbH return system are recycled in the company’s environmental centre.
