Edible oils and fats
Filtering edible oils
During production, edible oil is pressed from seeds or fruit. These can be sunflower seeds, rapeseed or olives. Commonly used methods include extraction using steam or solvents.
It is possible for impurities can get into the oils – whether from raw materials or production processes – which then have to be filtered out. Colour and taste can be enhanced during this process. Substances hazardous to health, such as benzo(a)pyrene, must not be allowed to be present in the final product. CarboTech’s activated carbons are particularly suitable for filtering edible oils.
